Biography
Paco Jones, born in 1972 in Dallas, United States, is a contemporary painter based on Bainbridge Island, Washington. He works primarily with ink on rice paper and watercolor on cotton paper, often combining both media. Jones is best known for his distinctive figurative language—monochromatic ink figures rendered in a single, fluid gesture and set against sparse backgrounds, drawing on Zen techniques and Buddhist philosophy—as well as his intricate watercolor landscapes capturing the ethereal beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
His work explores the complexities of Autistic identity, focusing on the challenges of communication and emotional expression. At the same time, it reflects a deep reverence for the natural world, viewing it as a form of divinity amid ecological crisis. Characterized by minimalism, emotional depth, and philosophical reflection, Jones' paintings form an ongoing dialogue between inner experience and the external environment.

Statement
My work centers on the beauty and impermanence of nature, explored through watercolor and ink on paper. Drawing on Sumi-e and Zen aesthetics, I create landscapes and figurative pieces that speak to both ecological fragility and the emotional realities of living as an Autistic person. Through these mediums, I aim to express a sense of stillness, isolation, and resilience in the face of uncertainty.
